Bring home a piece of the Himalayas with the Pine Glow Artist Series, a handcrafted wooden table lamp that celebrates the timeless beauty of Aipan, the sacred folk art of Kumaon, Uttarakhand. More than a decorative object, this lamp is a tribute to a centuries-old artistic tradition that has been lovingly preserved by the women of the Kumaon region for generations. Traditionally painted using white rice paste on a red ochre (Geru) base, Aipan is created during festivals, weddings, religious ceremonies, and other auspicious occasions to invite prosperity, positivity, and divine blessings into the home.

The lampshade features authentic hand-painted Kumaoni Aipan motifs, while the vibrant artwork depicts Maa Nanda Sunanda, one of the most revered deities of Kumaon. The majestic Nanda Devi Peak is named after Goddess Nanda Devi (Maa Nanda), who holds a special place in the spiritual and cultural life of Uttarakhand. Together, these traditional elements transform the lamp into a meaningful piece of art that radiates warmth, culture, and devotion.

Whether placed in a living room, reading corner, meditation space, or pooja room, the Pine Glow lamp creates a soothing ambience while carrying forward the stories and traditions of the Himalayas.

About Aipan Art

Aipan is one of Uttarakhand's oldest and most cherished folk art traditions, practiced across the Kumaon region. The word "Aipan" is derived from the Sanskrit word Lepana, meaning "to decorate" or "to plaster." Traditionally, women create intricate geometric and symbolic patterns freehand using a paste made from rice flour on a red Geru background. Every motif carries cultural and spiritual significance, representing prosperity, protection, and divine blessings.

More than a decorative art form, Aipan is a living tradition that has been passed down through generations, with women teaching the art within their families. Today, artists are thoughtfully adapting this heritage to contemporary creations, helping preserve and share Kumaon's rich cultural legacy with new audiences.
