Hi, I am Kamya, founder of Little Lamps. I grew up in Almora, a small hill town in Uttarakhand, where handmade things were simply normal. A lamp wasn't decor. It was warmth. Even as a child, I found peace in arranging a room, and I would wait for Diwali all year not for the sweets, but for the way light made every ordinary corner look different. I was educated, and unlike many girls in that town I was able to actually use it. That took me to a career in banking.

It offered security, but I kept returning to the same thing, and eventually I wanted to work on it instead. It still surprises me that I ended up making lamps.

My son Aditya joined as Co-Founder. Together we have built a Made in India brand, recognized under Startup India and incubated with the Punjab Cultural Project at ISB Mohali.

We make small table lamps by hand, from repurposed pine. Most lamps light a room. We wanted to make ones that say something.

India has hundreds of textile traditions and art forms. Madhubani, Warli, Kalamkari, Phulkari, Bandhani, block prints from Bagru and Sanganeri. Many are quietly disappearing. We work with karigars across the country to bring these onto our lampshades, so the craft has somewhere to go and the people who know it have work.

Our frames are built from pine offcuts that would otherwise be discarded. The wood arrives with its own marks and texture, and we work with what it gives us rather than making every piece identical.

The shades are washable and interchangeable. Swap them season to season, mood to mood. One lamp base, many identities. A Phulkari shade today, a Warli print tomorrow. It costs less than buying another lamp, and it wastes far less.
